TCAT - Hohenwald - Administrative Office Technology Instructor

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Hohenwald is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Office Technology Instructor.

Minimum Requirement:

 Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education or related field from an accredited college or university. Degree should reflect a major in business technology or related field with emphasis on accounting and computer skills.

 Three to five years of successful, recent, employment experience in the area of business.  Two years of teaching experience preferred.

 Ability to teach general office procedures, business-related math, English, and computer applications; knowledge of medical terminology/transcription is helpful.

 Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must.


 Candidate must be ready to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.

 Technology is a major factor in this program. Candidate must be willing to stay up-to-date on current and upcoming office technology.

 Must be proficient in MS Office, MS Windows, and QuickBooks; possess good business English and math skills.

 Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationship with students, faculty, staff, general public and good working relations with local business and industry leaders.

 Capable of meeting deadlines and adjusting to changing priorities.

 Strong teaching ability that allows you to work with a diverse group of students.

 Desire to quickly gain new skills and knowledge when faced with new challenges.

 Close attention to detail.

 Willingness to work as part of a team with strong human relation skills.

General Duties:

 Teach all phases of the Administrative Office Technology program in a post-secondary setting including; accounting, customer service, and medical administrative assistant.

 Participate in professional development activities as needed to remain current in the field and maintain an active advisory committee.

 Maintain strong relations with local business and industry to help program graduates obtain employment.

 Other duties include curriculum development, student recordkeeping, student recruitment, placement, follow-up of program graduate, and budgeting.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications, experience, education, and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
