Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Oneida/Huntsville Computer Information Technology’s instructor Rodney Stephens (right) is shown with Vice President Amy West (left) congratulating CIT graduate Cody Sircy (center) upon his recent employment as IT Specialist with JDS Technologies, Inc.
Cody states, “While in high school I wanted to pursue technical training at TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville because it seemed interesting. Originally, I wanted to enroll in the Welding program. After researching the different programs available at TCAT I decided the Computer Information Technology program was for me, and I have NEVER looked back. Everyone was so friendly and helpful - especially my instructor Rodney Stephens. If it were not for my instructor and fellow classmates I would not be where I am today. I really enjoy working and continuing to learn more in the IT field.”
CIT instructor Rodney Stephens comments, “Cody Sircy attended my CIT program since his senior year in high school. I knew Cody was gifted with sheer determination. His work ethic was one that most students could model. As he progressed through his senior year, his interest and desire for IT grew stronger. He shortly returned to the CIT program fulltime post high school. He continued his training in my robust IT program. I watched him mature as his knowledge and understanding grew exponentially. Becoming an IT Specialist is not for the faint hearted. Cody never accepted failure and accomplished every challenging project I gave him. Soon, Cody became CompTIA A+ certified proving his gained skills and comprehensive IT knowledge. If Cody stumbled, he would never fall. He always tackled the challenge and succeeded. During his 20 months in CIT, Cody achieved CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, PC Pro, Network Pro, Security Pro, Microsoft MTA Networking Fundamentals, Microsoft MTA Security Fundamentals and Microsoft Client Pro national certifications. What’s most impressive is he accomplished all this while helping assist other students, participating in the work study program and helping with the TCAT IT facility’s needs. More importantly noted is Cody began the CIT program with limited knowledge and no IT experience. While achieving the national IT certification and diligently working through the CIT curriculum, he achieved an immense of IT knowledge and hands-on experience equivalent to years of training in the workforce. Cody became equipped with an arsenal of IT skills ranging from PC repair to advanced Microsoft virtual server and networking infrastructure expertise. This is what we do at TCAT: give me your devotion, positive attitude and determination, and I can produce a quality entry level standout such as Cody Sircy. I feel assured that Cody’s achievements with the IT certifications and the CIT Specialist Diploma empowered him with confidence as one of the top interviewee contenders in the recent IT position at JDS Technologies. We at TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville are so proud of Cody and his accomplishments!”
