Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Oneida/Huntsville’s President Dwight Murphy is pleased to announce that Andrea Bowling of the Cosmetology program has been selected as the post-secondary “Student of the Month” for November 2017. Cosmetology instructor Jayne Roysden states, “Andrea is a prime example of an ideal student. She is a hard worker and very eager to learn. She goes above and beyond what is required of her and excels at it. She is an asset to my program. Andrea has volunteered her assistance for college functions such as TCAT graduation and the college’s recertification team visit opening reception. She is an active SkillsUSA member and has recently attended the Tennessee Leadership Training Institute conference in Franklin, Tennessee as one of TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville’s voting delegate representatives.” Andrea comments, “I knew for a while that I wanted to be a Cosmetologist. I grew up around the business with many successful hairdressers in my family. Approximately three years ago together with my husband, we opened a hair salon and hired a hair dresser. I love everything about the cosmetology industry. However, being 39 years old, I was reluctant to start back in school. With the support of my husband and children, I decided to embark on this new adventure, and I have no regrets. From the start, I have felt welcomed and encouraged by my instructor, Jayne Roysden, and fellow students. I feel confident upon graduation that I will possess the skills needed to become a licensed cosmetologist and successful hairdresser as well. The Lord has blessed me with so much more than I deserve. I am thankful for his salvation, his love and mercy, my family, and this opportunity to attend TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville. Although I have been here a short time, I have enjoyed every aspect of this experience.” Andrea is the wife of Phillip Bowling and the mother of Lydia, Nathan, and Luke.
