Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Oneida/Huntsville’s President Dwight Murphy is pleased to announce that Carolyn Linder of the Practical Nursing program has been selected as the post-secondary “Student of the Month” for January 2018. Practical Nurse instructor Jade Kidd states, “Carolyn is a hardworking, conscientious, and compassionate student always willing to help others.” Carolyn remarks, “I had been out of school working in industry for many years when I heard on the radio about Governor Haslem’s Drive to 55 Reconnect program. This information encouraged me to return to school to fulfill my dream since the eighth grade of becoming a nurse. It has been a lot of hard work. I am half way through it. When I first enrolled at TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville, it was in the Pharmacy Technician program. This was great for me because I used this as a training guide to gain study skills and knowledge that would help me in the practical nursing program. I completed the Pharmacy Technician program with a diploma and then immediately began the Practical Nursing program. I am very pleased with decision to enroll at TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville. The Pharmacy Technician instructor Casey Byrd was excellent and so are both the Practical Nurse instructors Jade Kidd and Robin Reed. All of them would go the extra mile to help a student succeed. They make sure the students understand what they are doing. I love school! My advice to everyone is if you have a dream fulfill it. You are NEVER too old to return to school.” Carolyn is a resident of Fentress County.
