Tennessee College of Applied Technology- Oneida/Huntsville’s President Dwight Murphy is pleased to announce that Daniel Phillips, a senior at Scott High School enrolled in the TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville Welding program has been selected as the Secondary “Student of the Month” for April 2019. April 3, 2019, Daniel received the bronze medal in the Secondary SkillsUSA State Competition in the Welding Individual category. While dual enrolled, he has completed his two years of high school training and has earned the Shielded Metal ARC Welding certificate and also the Gas Metal ARC Welding certificate. Daniel has earned an overall 3.25 GPA from Scott High School. Daniel works part-time at Taco Bell, and in his free time enjoys hunting, fishing, and four wheeling. Welding instructor Chris Chambers states, “Daniel began excelling during his second year in the program. He has approached his senior year the right way by continuing to work hard and apply himself; therefore, he has completed both SMAW and GMAW portions of the program as well as having an impressive showing at the state SkillsUSA competition in Chattanooga.” Daniel is the son of Brian Beeler and Melissa Foster of the Winfield community. “WorkFORCE development-- it’s what we do!“
