HUNTSVILLE — Brian Gibson has been named the evening instructor of the Automotive Technology program at Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville, President Dwight Murphy announced Friday.

The evening program will launch on the Huntsville campus next month, with classes slated to begin on February 25.

Gibson, a native of McCreary County, has nearly a quarter-century of experience in the automotive industry. He is a TCAT Oneida/Huntsville graduate, having completed the Automotive Technology program in 2000. He has worked for Chambers Automotive for the past 23 years and has also owned his own shop, Gibson Automotive, for the past six years.

He is the son of Tim Gibson, the day instructor for the Automotive Technology program. 

The evening program will be geared toward working adults interested in pursuing a new career in the automotive repair industry. The class will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Students in the evening program will be at the top of the waitlist for the day program if they wish to transition to the full-time day program.

The Automotive program is a 1,728-clock-hour program that prepares students to achieve proficiency in repairing and diagnosing high-tech automobiles. Through a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on experience, students can become specialists in eight different areas of auto repair and earn as many as 10 certifications from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
