Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Oneida/Huntsville Computer Information Technology (CIT) instructor Rodney Stephens is proud to announce that CIT student Joey Ward has become Security + certified. According to his CIT instructor, “Joey has been a tremendous student. Not only does he carry a full IT curriculum load, he helps with the College's IT needs and is a faithful work study student. Passing CompTIA's Security+ certification further proves Joey's quality and interest for IT. A note to industries, keep your sights on Joey.”

CompTIA Security+ is the first security certification IT professionals should earn. It establishes the core knowledge required of any cybersecurity role and provides a springboard to intermediate-level cybersecurity jobs. Security+ incorporates best practices in hands-on trouble-shooting to ensure security professionals have practical security problem-solving skills. Cybersecurity professionals with Security+ know how to address security incidents – not just identify them. Security+ is compliant with ISO 17024 standards and approved by the US DoD to meet directive 8140/8570.01-M requirements.

Successfully passing this certification validates Joey’s knowledge of communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, operational security and general security concepts across vendor products. He is now qualified to oversee corporate network security measures and protect a corporation against security threats like viruses and hackers.
