Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Oneida/Huntsville’s Computer Information Technology instructor Rodney Stephens is pleased to announce that Joey Ward received his CompTIA Server+ certification in April 2019. His instructor states, “Joey is my first student to pass the Server+ certification. He took this EXTRA certification without it being required while preparing for the CIT curriculum Security+ certification. Joey is a high achiever who continues to work toward his goals in the IT field. He graduated from high school last May and has completed eight certifications since he began his training as both a secondary student and also a post-secondary student. As of this date he has received certifications in TestOut PC Pro, CompTIA A+, TestOut Network Pro, MTA – Microsoft Networking Fundamentals, CompTIA Network+, TestOut Security Pro, MTA - Microsoft Security Fundamentals, and CompTIA Server+. Joey is driven to acquire the skills necessary for a successful IT career.” CompTIA Server+ ensures students like Joey have the skills to work in data centers or cloud environments. CompTIA Server+ certified candidates can work in any environment because it is the only vendor-neutral certification covering the major server platforms. It is the only industry certification that covers the latest server technologies including virtualizations, security and network-attached storage.

The Server+ certification validates the skills necessary to be a server administrator. Those passing this certification have learned the following: 1. understand, configure and support server components 2. manage and maintain servers, including OS configuration, access control and virtualization 3. support storage devices technologies, including capacity and growth planning 4. apply physical and network data security techniques 5. configure systems for network connectivity, including physical and logical elements 6. understand disaster recovery and implement backup techniques and 7. diagnose and resolve system hardware, software, connectivity, storage and security issues. Joey is the son of Wendy and Roger Ward.
