TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville president Dwight Murphy is pleased to announce Nancy Boles has received the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Oneida/Huntsville SOAR 2019 Staff Excellence Award. Nancy will represent TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville in the regional-level competition. The regional winner will then compete with the other regional winners for the Staff Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition (SOAR) award given by the Tennessee Board of Regents College System of Tennessee.
Nancy Boles is the Student Services is the TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville financial Aid Assistant. During her 22-year tenure Nancy has been very valuable to the College. She is very passionate about helping students to ensure they have their FASFA and College registration forms completed. She works with incoming students as well as returning students. Two words that best describe her are “student advocate.” One of her strong skills is assisting students that need financial assistance above their Pell and Wilder-Naifeh scholarship funding. She networks with all of the area American Job Centers, Vocational rehab agencies, foundations and other help agencies to assure students have the necessary funding to attend class. She works on transportation assistance, uniform funding, tools, financial scholarships, certifications testing and any other barriers that prevent students from enrolling and being successful. Nancy also oversees the veteran’s programs. Nancy works long hours – sometimes even Saturdays- to assure students are registered and that they will receive financial aid. She works those hours without complaints and with a smile on her face because she is helping students. Nancy is very involved in her church and other community functions. She has served as a TNPromise Mentor and is currently a board member on the Morgan/Scott Project. TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville student services coordinator Jennifer Trammell comments, “Nancy Boles is critical to the functioning of this college. Having only been in my job for four years, Nancy has been a mentor, teacher, and encourager to me.” TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville president Dwight Murphy states, “I know of no one in the College system that is more deserving of this award. Hundreds of students would not have gotten diplomas and certificates if not for the extraordinary efforts Nancy has done to assure their success. We have seen students over the years that could have attended one of several different TCATs, but chose Oneida/Huntsville because of the “student friendly” approach provided by Nancy and her colleagues.”
Nancy Boles is the spouse of Howie Boles, the parent of three children, and also the mimi of Rhett and Taylen.
Nancy is a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
