Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Oneida/Huntsville is pleased to announce that Rick Wiseman of the Administrative Office Technology program has been selected as the post-secondary “Student of the Month” for April 2017. While in college Rick participated in the Tennessee PostSecondary SkillsUSA State Conference. Rick states, “I had retired and found that retirement life was not what I had envisioned. I wanted more out of life. Because of my disability, I could no longer continue working as a correctional officer or a truck driver. I decided to go back to school to retrain and be a more productive member of society. I have found a career that I can physically do. I have enrolled in the Administrative Office Technology program and am working toward a Medical Administrative Assistant diploma. TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville’s atmosphere is a great environment for people to better themselves. I know I am getting the education I need to reenter the workforce and be in a career that helps others.” Rick is active in his church ministry with Signature Health Care of McCreary County. In the past, Rick has been a member of the “Old Pathway” and the local Channel 5 “The Gospel Lighthouse Hour” singing groups. AOT instructor Janet Watson states, “Rick was hesitant at first, but after he decided to enroll in the AOT program he has done remarkably well with his studies. He diligently works on his classwork and has been very successful in the program.” He is married to Janet Wiseman and they live in the Oneida community.
