Tuesday, October 29, Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Oneida/Huntsville’s President Dwight Murphy along with students, faculty and staff were honored to have Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor Dr. Flora Tydings and Executive Assistant Mary Ann Hammonds as special guests. Chancellor Tydings is chief executive officer of the Board of Regents system, managing operations of the system office and providing strategic leadership for the 27 Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology and 13 community colleges. During her visit, Chancellor Tydings toured the facilities for the technical programs at both the main campus in Huntsville and the Oneida extension campus. Joining her for a luncheon were the TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville 2019 SOAR Student Excellence Award and the Staff Excellence Award recipients Jordan Watson (local institution student winner) and Chris Chambers (local institution faculty winner), and ten student nominees – Catherine Musselman of the Administrative Office Technology program, Bobby Dazey of the Automotive Technology program, Joey Ward of the Computer Information Technology program, Rhaylan Bowlin of the Cosmetology program, Chris Rogers of the Machine Tool Technology program, Ryan Acres of the Power Line Construction and Maintenance program, Shannon Capley of the Pharmacy Technology program, Jacquetta Hicks and Haley Muse of the Practical Nursing program, and Riley Brown of the Welding Technology program. Other guests included Lynn Human of Tennier Industries, Ruthie Mullett of JDS, Todd Carson, welding program instructor, of Morgan County Correctional Complex, and Mike Slaven and Anthony Newport of Takahata Precision Tennessee. Student greeters and servers were Administrative Office Technology students Macey Potter, Sheilda Mills, Kaylee Garrett, and Christina Lazarou. TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville administration attending were President Dwight Murphy, Vice President Amy West, Student Services Coordinator Jennifer Trammell, Practical Nursing Coordinator Rae Ellis, and Student Success Coach Noah Duncan.
