Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Oneida/Huntsville’s president Dwight Murphy is pleased to announce that Zach Fisher of the Automotive Technology program has been selected as the post-secondary “Student of the Month” for September 2018. Zach is scheduled to complete the program in December 2018. He attended the automotive program two years in the secondary program, and is in his second year in the post-secondary Automotive Technology program. While in College, Zach has participated in SkillsUSA state competition for post-secondary students and also has been a participant in the Tennessee Leadership Training Institute in Nashville. Zach works approximately thirty hours a week and is a full time student at TCAT-Oneida/Huntsville. He is an accomplished Eagle Scout and volunteers his time and talents each year to the Heritage Festival. In addition, Zach is now volunteering in Scott County with the Boy Scouts of America. Zach states, “Around age nine I helped my dad work on his 18 wheeler. That experience as a child sparked my interest to learn more in the automotive field. I’m glad that I chose to pursue training in this field. TCAT’s Automotive Technology program is really good, and the new instructor, Danny Norman, has been a big help to me. I recommend the program to others that are interested in the auto field. I look forward to begin my career as an automotive technician.” Zach is the son of Sheila and Elmer Fisher.
