This twelve-month course leads to a satisfying and well-paying career in the health care field. The practical nurse works with the registered nurse and doctor in caring for the sick or injured. The course combines classroom instruction with clinical experience. Instruction covers Vocational Relationships, Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Nursing Principles and Skills, Maternity, and Pediatrics as well as disease processes. In the clinical area, students are supervised by a clinical instructor while they care for medical, surgical, obstetric and pediatric patients in addition to administering medications. Upon satisfactory completion of the Practical Nursing (LPN) program, the graduate is able to take the state board of nursing examination to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. This program is offered at the main campus at 355 Scott High Drive, Huntsville, Tennessee and the Oneida Extension Campus at 180 Eli Lane, Oneida, Tennessee

Admission Requirements:
Complete and submit the Practical Nursing Application for Enrollment.
Meet the minimum qualifications on the COMPASS Test.
Submit evidence of a high school diploma, GED, or Hi-SET.
Submit evidence of American Heart Association CPR certification.
Submit three work references or character references.
Submit a health record (physician’s examination report) and immunization records.
Attend a mandatory orientation session.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Licensure Requirements:
Applicant must have completed twelfth grade or have received a GED or Hi-SET.
Applicant must have satisfactorily completed a Practical Nursing program.
School must recommend its graduates as to health, general, and practical nursing education.
Applicant must pass NCLEX to be licensed.
Students are subject to alcohol and drug testing in connection with participation in clinical settings. (See Practical Nurse Handbook for more details.)
Applicant must have a criminal background check completed six (6) months prior to applying for licensure.
